TMEA Convention

Post by UTSAtuba »

Alright, ladies and gents, it's about that time of year. I'll definitely be there. Any other takers?

Joseph

P.S.-For those that are unfamiliar, TMEA is an acronym for the Texas Music Educators Association. They'll be hosting their convention (as usual) in San Antonio, TX at the H.B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

Most of the faculty up here at OSU are going next week, leaving me to (uncompensated, of course) run the jazz ensemble rehearsal on Friday. TMEA must be a huge event to be such a big draw this far north!

I'm going this year. I'm really looking forward to it. It will be the first time I get to try out allot of different Tubas. Don't know how well I'll be able to discern how they play with all the racket. But it will be fun none the less.

I will be there. It's my home turf, so to speak. I am contemplating whether or not to have another tuba-euph reading session on Fri. night. Is there any interest?

The SHSU Wind Ensemble is an invited university group this year. Come check us out if you find room in your schedule. We perform at 11:00am Thursday afternoon.

Our program includes:

"Phantasticke Spirites" by Donald Grantham

"Were You There?" by John Lynch

"Concerto for Brass Trio" by Floyd Werle (featuring Allen Barnhill of the Houston Symphony on Trombone, Randy Adams on Trumpet, and not to mention Bob Daniel on Tuba :tuba: )

"Symphony for Band" (both movements) by Morton Gould

[EDIT: 11:00am, not 2pm...got my times confused]

I think I could find that house pretty easily, even if the surrounding scenery has changed a bit. Something about it would seem familiar.

But for what it's worth, ideally it should have been posted here first. Topic merge perhaps?
