Yes... Holton did make 'em. But... does anyone have a clue how many were produced? or the years they were made?

I think Steve Dillon might have an idea. You might try dropping him an email or a phone call. If you have one lying around, send him some photos as that might help get him talking.
When I owned a horn with a short-action Holton cluster on it, he seemed fairly interested in it from a historical perspective. I remember him saying there were very few in existence either mounted on concert basses or sousaphones.
