partial year insurance policies

Post by elimia »

Anyone have knowledge/experience with one of these policys? I'd like to reduce my motorcyle insurance as I'm currently paying from Nov to March while it sits in the shed. They used to offer these at one time but some quick Google searches haven't turned up much.

Thanks - Ryan

Hey Schlep,

I checked with Dairyland and I was quoted a higher rate than my policy with Geico. My rate ain't terrible (like $21 a month) but ya know, it bugs me to pay for it when it's gathering dust. I'm just a fair weather rider and bloke-ish it to be honest - it's cheap transportation, nothing more.

I'll call the Dairyland guy again and specifically ask about this. The dude might have quoted me just a standard policy.

Your weather been nice enough down there to get your Yamaha out? My buddy rode his new Harley in and froze his keister off. Still cold for riding here in Kentucky.

I have liability only on my 1976 Yamaha RD 400. It's the law and costs $300 a year. If I bust my bike up and survive, I know a guy who can fix it cheap. If I bust me up, it ain't gonna be cheap. We can ride on warm days most any month down here in Dixie. Got out yesterday for a ride down to the river.

I'd feel better about the insurance policy if I was able to commute more, but it gets too chilly in the midwest here until late March.

I just carry liability on mine. I figure that if I have a wreck there might not be much to fix to justify the higher rate.

Sigh. Looking forward to spring!
