I went into our DG for the first time yesterday, and they do have an impressive selection of stuff (and good prices)! Well-lit, clean ... nice. And it's only two miles from my house (the nearest Wal-Mart is 10 miles away). :D

Places to shop when saving $$$:

Price Rite
Aldi's (Although Price Rite has a broader range of goods)
Dollar General
Dollar Tree
IKEA (They have good quality stuff for a decent price if you stay away from the fashionable stuff, plus meals for around $4)
Ocean State Job Lots (very regional so defer to)
Big Lots (but you have to use discretion as not everything is a "bargain")
Harbor Freight (for tools you need only a few times, like a 1/2" drive torque wrench)

There are a few things I have come to pay money for. One of them is paint. I still refuse to buy paint (after trying many brands) from anyone other than Sherwin Williams. End the end, however, S-W paint seems to save me money anyhow.

HI-
I agree with Bloke-Dollar General rules!!! But I also agree that some of their stores vary--some are OK-while others are really well stocked-and you can't beat the prices. Also, other good deals are at:
Big-Lots
Aldi's
Save-A-Lot
Target

Umm,Bob, Aldi is not like Sam's club or any other membership places. Anyone can just walk in and shop.
You had to sue them just to go there??????

I have a Dollar Store about 1/2 block north of my shop/house. I buy ALL of my dishwashing liquid, cat litter, laundry detergent, toothpaste, contact lens solutions, bar soap, deodorant, packaging tape, and most other household/shop cleaning supplies there. It's convenient and saves me a fortune over buying all that stuff at the grocery.

I know black cats are supposed to be lucky, so...would a glow in the dark cat be the opposite...and...lucky?

I'm guessing TubaTinker that you really stand out at low light gigs, especially wearing a tank top... I mean your clothes, eyes, skin, even your underarms glowing in the dark from your vast use of radio active stuff from DG!

Heck, the glow in the dark cat must be quite the site after dark out in the neighborhood.
It beats buying batteries for my gig lights!
