Hey, just wanted to let everyone out here in tubaland know that I am now using a Dave Houser MJT E-C stainless steel mouthpiece with my Besson 983 Eb tuba. It's a wonderful piece, available in either 2 or 3-piece sets (shank-cup-rim). It is more expensive that the G&W SSteel counterparts, but I have used Dave in the past to create a custom euphonium mouthpiece for me, and I really appreciate his craftsmanship, so I decided to spend the extra money and stick with him. I highly reccomend this line of mouthpieces to anyone interested (like I was) in the relatively-new SSteel mouthpiece phenomenon. Response has improved (on a tuba that responds incredibly well already), slurring through harmonics has eased, and the comfort and playability is absolutely wonderful. I can't wait until Dave has time to replicate my custom euph mouthpiece in SSteel.
Happy Blowing everyone!!!
