stupid deer

Post by ken k »

So i am driving home from rehearsal tonight and there is a herd (is that what you call a group of deer?) crossing the road in frnt of me, so i stop and wait. just as it looks like the road is clear I begin to pull out and all of a sudden, Bam! a stupid deer runs into the passenger door of my car!!!! breraks the friggin mirror right off the door.

I know they have no idea what the heck a car is and all, but you would think that after awhile they would be able to figure out that those big noisy metal things only drive on the part of the ground that is hard. Oh well I tried JB weld on the mirror. hopefully that will hold it by morning.

Had a super close call with a deer on a foggy night. Scary. Still don't see how we missed each other.

My dad's car has had encounters with deer 3 times....in the past year. Had to go to the shop twice.

I regularly have a small herd of 4-6 deer walking through my yard (smack in the middle of town). They eat just about everything in sight (so far, rocks are resistant) so our garden has an 8 foot fence to keep them out.

Here's a solution our town is using:

I have four 'kills' to my credit. None of the cases could have been avoided without causing more problems. Two of 'em were with the same car and it still bears the 'scars of war'. Of course, the guard rail that my wife's son took out while he was in college didn't help, either!

Maybe it one of those No-Eyed Deer we've all heard about. Granted, it was almost a Still No-Eyed Deer.

Not the deer's fault; we killed off all the wolves.

Heard a funny story here last night....there is a conference going on at a fancy resort that is in the foothills of the mountains, and I took a friend to dinner who was at the conference. She told of a lady who went for a walk at dusk the night before, saw a bobcat, and decided she wouldn't take any more walks. Fella told her that the bobcats aren't that hungry this time of year, but she wasn't impressed. Now, if she had seen a mountain lion....I'd agree with her. But a bobcat? They're just cute.

Yes, it is a herd of deer.

Yes, they are stupid.

ain't that the truth?!?!? it would have been more than my mirror that got broken!
k

PS the epoxy seems to be holding for now. We will have to wait and see how long it lasts.

k

and of course the dang deer did not have any insurance!

So now I have a rear bumper held on with duct tape (due to a jerk who hit me with out insurance), a number of dents and scratches touched up wth paint that doesn't quite match and now i have a rear view mirror held on with epoxy, i always said I would keep this car until the wheels fell off of it, well I am still waiting. The wheels haven't fallen off yet but everything else is going.....

So, yer sayin' it looks like the cars in the teacher's lot? :D
yeah pretty much, but even there it is a bottom feeder. (There are a copule women driving MBs and BMWs making us look bad, of course their husbands make more than my wife and I combined.) oh well it does get good gas mileage. The thing is only worth about 2 grand even if it would be in good shape, so i dropped the collision and comprehensive covereage and ever since then things keep hitting me.
