So, if a British style brass band was looking to buy new 3+1 BBb basses, what would be the best choice currently? Have people compared the NEW Besson against York, annd if so how did they stack up?
Can't seem to find anything on this, even at 4barsrest.com - just cornet and euph comparisons and a bit on the EEb bass. For the record the NEW Besson and York EEb's are very similar (and very good) - ie. personally I would choose either one.
Thanks for your responses, especially any based on comparison playing experience.

There's an AndyCat on this forum that tried some BBb's nex to each other, and ended up with London Musical Instruments (LMI).

Re: Best new 3+1 BBb for brass band?
Hi,
try the Willson compensated 3+1 BBb tubas. They are by far the best brass band tubas I have tried!
Very heavy, but play beautifully. More distinct and more core than Besson & York.
