I am amazed there is only one vote for Cheerwine so far.
But the best is Ting — a Jamaican grapefruit soda.

I always understood "pop" to be a midwestern thing. Here on the east coast, no one says "pop"...it's "soda." My girlfriend, who is from California, assures me this is the case on the west coast, as well.BigDale wrote:NickJones wrote:We are also unique in SE Wisconsin, as we say "soda" rather than "pop", which is more standard in the U.S.--comes from Grandpa Graf's Soda Company, as well as another very local southside Milwaukee brand, Black Bear Soda.

I'll back NC on this, a good tomato beer just hits the spot sometimes. And it certainly helps the cheep beer when that's all that is available. Plus you get a load of vitamins from the tomato juiceTexTuba wrote:No offense, but why in the hell would you do THAT?!NC_amateur_euph wrote:Best: Big Red .... but this Big Red was our post-softball libation: very cold, cheapest possible draft beer in a huge frosted mug with tomato juice added, hence the Big Red. Probably still found in bucket-of-blood bars along 28th St. in Fort Worth.First, you mislead about Big Red...strike one....then, you drink cheap beer.....strike two....and THEN, you add tomato juice to a beer....STRIKE THREE!! YOU, GOOD SIR, ARE OUT!!!!!

Also, for all you Coke fans out there, [especially] this time of year, you can usually find Coke made with cane sugar for Passover. When I've gotten it, it comes in 2L bottles with a bright yellow cap. Tastes great, and not as "sticky" as it's corn-syrup filled variants.

My vote for best is a tie between Jamaican-style ginger beer and malzbier/malta.
Worst ever was a soy milk drink, sweetened with cane syrup, which made me horribly sick, probably from an allergic reaction to something in the cane syrup, with my throat nearly swollen shut, etc.

Guaraná can be tasty, on a sunny day near the equator. I don't remember the brand - green glass bottles, anyway, and it seemed like about every tenth vehicle was a small truck with crates of those bottles.

Re: best/worst soft drink ever
Yeah, from the bottle it is definitely better. Another reason -- it's a small bottle, so I'm more inclined to drink it slowly and actually be able to taste it. A 20-oz. plastic bottle doesn't exactly encourage a slower pace.schlepporello wrote:I'll tell you what also tastes great Coke-wise. That's to drink it from a glass bottle.

New best: RC cola
New worst: Diet Anything
We can get Mexican coke here, in a glass bottle, and it is made with real sugar, not "high fructose corn syrup," and you know what? It tastes like Coke USED to taste, that is, good.

I don't know if this is being released regionally for a trial, or if it's nationally available (which I assume it is), but Pepsi has recently released "Pepsi Cola Throwback," made with real sugar. I just tried one, and the difference is amazing. It is about a thousand times better than the "normal" Pepsi you can find...I hope it sticks around!

I wouldn't necissarily say that it's the worst. Some mornings, you just need a Mountain Dew to get going

Hey, hey! Mountain Dew is honestly really good. I mean, they could almost be their own brand with all the different flavors they have. (Although I will admit, some of them are pretty bad)
