I'd agree...there just wasn't something there that I wanted when I went to see them in concert.
And I had to pay for my tickets...
I think I might end up as a grumpy old man when I get old...

my opinion is that folks who develop these kinds of groups don't appreciate the value in the group playing together a lot. I heard a review of the band prior to the current incarnation on the Tonight Show (several years ago). The reviewer noted that the fact that these guys played together every single day (even though it's not the music they were doing for this show), the tightness and cohesion of the band really came through. With Orchestral music where there is a) a director who guides the whole ensemble to stay together, and even cue's important things for the group to do, b) Limited improvisation, which leads to good results pretty much no matter how a professional group is arranged.
