One "cool" thing that some of them do is to scan logos (or whatever) and laser-cut perfect copies of them into objects...
...As far as the laser engraving is concerned, some of those who are more familiar with the subtleties of their equipment can stretch/skew objects that are scanned in to allow for curvature.
