Quintet mouthpiece fpr MW2145

Post by MartyNeilan »

I am looking for any ideas on a good quintet mouthpiece for the Meinl Weston 2145 CC (large piston). The two main pieces I use are a little dark for quintet, more oriented towards large ensemble playing. My F mouthpieces are a little too bright for my taste in quintet. Looking for that perfect combination of not too dark / not too bright. Prefer a piece with a more round rim - C4 style over Helleberg style. Used a Yamaha Self on my old 1290 in quintet, but never liked how that piece sounded on the 2145.

Thanks for the tip, LV. But, the PT-64 is very close if not identical to the RM-9, which is pushing the limits of brightness for quintet playing (IMHO). Perhaps the PT-65 would be just a little darker, anyone try that on a 2145?
