TubeNet in Real Life

I have the same sentiments about meeting folks on here. I have been fortunate enough to meet a few of the Texas members of this board and lucky enough to play in an ensemble with one on a regular basis. Tuba players make for good buddies!

I'm planning to be in Pentwater on July 16th. I'm going to haul both of my Conn 'Jumbos' up for that concert. I'm REALLY looking forward to that event.

Hi, Wade!

At first, I didn't recognize the title of this thread. Yes!... it was a real pleasure to meet you finally. And to discover that you aren't so mean, after all! ha ha.

Terri and I had quite a 'music' vacation. We stopped last Tuesday at Wimberley, Texas to play with The Hill Country Community Band. Wednesday thru Saturday, we were in Houston for the Association of Concert Bands. And, on the way home we stopped this past Monday evening to play with the Mississippi Community Symphonic Band in Jackson, Mississippi. Jackson is where I met up with Wade. He drove 60 miles to pick up his horn, came back to Jackson to play, and then drove home. That's the love of music!

On the way to Texas, we stopped to visit 'Bloke'. What a trip! We found the groups in Wimberley, Texas and Jackson, Mississippi through a Yahoo Community Music Forum. I frequent that forum quite a bit. Here's the URL

Whenever Terri and I start planning a vacation, I begin by posting a projected itinerary on the Community Music Forum. Two years ago, we played with six bands up the northern California coast, into Vancouver, and back through Great Falls, Montana. We even stopped in Oregon and met Chuck G.

We've found the music community to be a bunch of wonderful, friendly folks. I highly recommend that you seek out bands when you travel. Any of you are always welcome to visit my community band when you are traveling through the Southern Indiana area. We meet on Tuesday evenings at 7pm.

If any of you come to Branson, MO for a show, make sure to tell me in advance. My wife and I would be glad to meet for dinner, dessert, beverages, whatever you have time for, and talk tuba. PolkaNoble and his wife and my wife and myself had a great dinner at a local restaurant when they were passing through a couple of years ago. He got to tell me all about his Red Rudy.

No. We look like tuba players. When my wife and I were approaching the appointed meeting spot at the Royal Festival Hall to meet you, she picked you out of the crowd before I could even make out faces. I have no idea how, but she is Tuba-Player-Trained.
