Latest on the Blokepiece Solo #1

Post by rocksanddirt »

Got mine today.....I was so excited I showed everyone in the office....now they don't only think I'm weird....they know it...

Anyway....

When I got home and had a chance to try it out for an hour, I have a few observations on the use with a full size horn (BBb 186).

First...it really highlights the air in my tone, which is something to work on. I have been using a Bach 22, which is a big soup bowl compared to the bloke#1.

Second....it seemed to help punch up the attack in many instances.

Third....gave the lower portion more of a crisp sound, suitable for jazz/solo work (imo).

I'm very happy with it, and will keep using it.

Thanks Bloke!

And the stainless steel would be able to withstand rocks and dirt better than brass would do.

For what tuba do you use the bp1?

Klaus, using it for the old Besson Eb and the Boosey F

Heh. I'm using an older (late 60's) Miraphone BBb 186, that I got off fleabay for $600 and then put $1,300 in to make playable. I love it, and the bloke piece gives a different enough sound that it'll get used as much as the soup bowl.
