I use the light slide grease on the #1 of my 186. Fantastic stuff: the slide moves very fast but stays put where you want it. I seldom have to relubricate, and it doesn't foul rotors. I'm looking forward to trying their other offerings one day, but right now I'm well set for valve oil and main slide grease otherwise.

I don't know about that, but my secret, which I will now share with you, for reliable piston valve operation on my big BBb tuba, is Castrol GTX 10w/40 motor oil. Mixed with Al Cass for faster operation of valves.

Does it have to be Castrol? I'd like to use a synthetic oil, longer mileage, you know.

Well, first, if you do that, you must use only synthetic. But until you have pretty significant mileage on there, like several thousand miles, I would stick with dino.
