Miklos Rozsa's - "Triumphal March" (Quo Vadis)

no sir, but i imagine it would be awesome! one of my favorite pieces is Miklos Rozsa's "The lord's prayer" from the movie the King of Kings (the old black and white one). I've played that B5 version of that 3 times... but wish I had played it 300.

This composer died recently seen in a copyright context. Unless somebody managing his estate sees an obvious market potential, the red-tape before writing the first note of the arrangement would discourage most arrangers.

True, however there are apparently a lot of self-published arrangers who aren't too concerned with obtaining the rights, even after publication. I keep finding sites which offer quintet arrangements that state that the copyright is owned by (insert name) Music Publishers which is usually a dead give-away that rights have not been obtained.

Often, once you obtain the right to make an arrangement, the agreement usually states that you have to credit the original copyright holder in print in a specific manner way. The phraseology is usually given to you.

Miklos Roza's music remains firmly under copyright protection. I was commissioned some years ago to make a band arrangement from one of Eric Korngold's movie scores. Warner Bros. turned down the request flatly. Since they have their own publishing house, I can understand their desire to keep it all "in the family" but it didn't make me happy and it kept me from getting a fee.

However, the Triumphal March is a great tune and perfect for brass quintet. I wish it could be done.
