The stuff was so cheap, they gave me money to take it off their hands. It's awesome stuff, but kinda sucks to get on your fingers. It lasts forever (both the grease on the slides and the bottle, you barely need any).
I use anhydrous lanolin from the drugstore on tuning slides. Have for many years. Has its pluses and minuses but works ok for me since I don't pull slides while playing and it's inexpensive.
I use plain old generic unscented cold cream, also inexpensive and from the drugstore, with water in a spray bottle for my trombone. Come to think of it, the spray bottle came from the drugstore.
Neither product is toxic and they don't make my horns smell like old carburetors.
