I think it's funny how they say its a "tuba solo", but the whole low brass has the line also..great video though.

Are you sure? I never noticed that. I've heard some trumpet racket and drums banging around but I thought the rest of the brass must have been tacit throughout. hmmmm, I'll have to listen better next time. Are there any woodwind parts?TUbajohn20J wrote:I think it's funny how they say its a "tuba solo", but the whole low brass has the line also...
I know there's no conductor part, they always fake it anyway.

Hey John. Thanks for the link to that video. It brought back good memories. Richard will be greatly missed!

I played "Them Basses" with the Shrine Bans a couple of month ago. I play euphonium with that group. And I have directed "Them Basses" several times in a couple of different groups.I think it's funny how they say its a "tuba solo", but the whole low brass has the line also..
Indeed, the solo line is in tuba, euph and trombone--and presumably the low woodwinds as well.
I seem to remember that there ARE high woodwind parts (we would not have programmed any music without those parts in either band). I don't think they are very important. Pretty much like the cornet/trumpet parts except there may be a few trills.
