Re: Buescher Custom CC at Dillon's
I was there yesterday, and it played really well. I was honestly surprised, because it didn't look as good as some of the other ones, but it played like a real pro.

I wonder if that was Scott Mendokers old horn?

The sound is "world class"! Wonder if someone at Dillons who is a Tubenet reader is enjoying a little joke.

Was this horn also for sale at Dillon's about a year ago?

Yes, that Buescher was orginally owned by Scott Mendoker. It started out as a 3 valve top action BBb that had a really long tuning in the leadpipe slide. I think I only had to cut out about 6 inches of branches to make that horn. The rotor valves are from Meinl Weston. The main tuning slide crook came from a VMI 103 tuba. Of course I made the nickel silver leadpipe from drawn nickel silver tube. One of my favorite tubas.

I played this horn a few years ago when it was originally for sale:

Great horn, definitely the best thing they had in their shop at the time...

I played this horn at Dillon Music over 8 years ago or so when Scott M. had first put it up for sale I believe. I remember really liking this horn at the time. It had a real sweet sound and was a very free blowing instrument. However, I had just bought a new MW2000 less than a month prior and was not about to buy another CC however tempting that horn was. I was actually there to pick out an F. Someone will get a very unique and wonderful instrument. Another great Matt Walters creation.
