As a lifelong driver of G.M. cars, I find that the hydraulic piece you mention, never lasts as long as the rest of the car and costs mega dollars to replace.
Cut a piece of a broom handle the right length to prop the hood up and keep in in your trunk.

I just finished my home installation of The Jackson's Super Rockin' Sweet Audiophile Musical Listenings Station v1.0b. A gift from my uncle, you see.

I CAN FINALLY HEAR THE BASS!!!

BBQ ribs is good eats! Tried the steamer function on my new microwave. Amazing! Boils the water under the meat without microwaving the meat to oblivion. Steamed the rubbed ribs for an hour and grilled them for another hour whilst slathering on the sauce. Best ribs I ever ate! Period! Having leftovers for breakfast in a minute.
