This post is not strictly tuba related, but rather the passing along of a provocative blog on the power of music. A guy from my home town founded a non-profit organization called Cultures in Harmony. Briefly, this organization organizes "tours" to countries all over the world. Currently, there are groups in Tunisia, Mexico and in a couple weeks Pakistan. Please see http://www.culturesinharmony.org/home.html" target="_blank for more information. Should you be interested in joining a tour, I believe they are always looking for more performers and musical ambassadors. (Note: I have no direct connection to the organization, I am just staying in contact with someone from back home and I am interested in following his life.)
The point of this thread, is to share with you a letter he wrote to a young violinist inquiring into the world of "professional classical musicians". Although I am working to become a "classical musician" his words have given me a new way to think about the role music plays in my life, and the ability I have to play music and effect someone else's life in such a positive way. The following link is to his "Letter to a Young Violinist." Please take the time to read the letter in its entirety.

Re: Cultures in Harmony
Wow. I was thinking it had something to do with yogurt.
