Somebody got a deal, even if it requires a valve job and a de-denting, it's still going to come in under $1500. Was this a tubenetter?
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Re: Olds 0-99-041
I would heartily reccomend getting it "blokerized". Mine played like a completely different horn after he got the valve tubing to the correct length. The ability to use the 4th valve correctly fixed the intonation problems. Mine is now almost point and shoot in the useable range. I do have to use alternates above middle C and pull on the B below the staff and the usual scramble below the low F, but other that that it's pretty much blow and go. It is so nice to nail the 12 and 23 combos without a lot of effort. I hope your valves aren't pitted as much as mine were. bloke has a guy somewhere that does remarkable valve plating for him. Mine are now like butter and look brand new!
Didn't you used to have a 3v version?

I'll have to see what it is like when it gets here. I have to sell a couple of horns before getting this one serviced.
Mira 186 BBb or Mira Perinet (3v student BBb) anyone?

Re: Olds 0-99-041
Just unpacked the horn. It arrived safe and sound a week after paying for it.
I paid $407.00 with free shipping. It is pretty usable just as it is. Very, very few dents and none of major consequence. All of the slides are stuck and the valves are a little noisy. Lots of worn lacquer and scratches. It shows evidence of a lot of dent work over the ages but it's pretty straight now. The bell is OK now and shows no evidence of previous abuse. I think it will be just fine with a general servicing.
I'll take it to Dan O. and I hope he has time to take it in. Bloke mentioned some problems with these horns regarding the valve stems and caps, i.e. "mix and matching" over the years so that will be checked with the general servicing. I'll mention the mods, too. I'm sure Dan will do what's best. Up here in the NW, Dan's the man for tuba.

Re: Olds 0-99-041
Mine too was playable out of the box, sort of. The valves were pitted and the alignment sucked, but even brand new this model had some playablity problems. The slide lengths were set up for the compromises necessary with a 3v horn and not altered for the 4v version. This makes the 4th valve and tubing only a cosmetic apendage. I hate carrying the extra weight around if it's not useable. Blokerizing improved the overall pitch and playability of the horn 100%. I played a gig Sunday morning and never touched a slide. I like that! For an old guy BBb player, this horn may be the answer. Check out the bloke's explanation of the slide lengths in this post. Dan will be more than able to fix it for you.

I haven't picked up my 184 since I got this one back from bloke, but it's about time to do it. I wonder how that going to feel.
