I merely pointed out that there is a proper way to wear/put together the sousaphone to increase visibility and overall look (it works here at Alma College) and that the tone we are hearing through the video may or may not be the actual sound, the tuba/sousaphone player may even get a better sound on a different mouthpiece. Somehow she thinks I am talking about the saxophone player, which I am clearly not, but it may be the problem that she has never heard of a sousaphone before and still believing it is called a tuba...

That was sorta funny.
I just got back from the movies (double feature drive-in...sorta scraped up the bottom, front, and back of my car going over the little hills. I think it's fine, though). I'm also hungry. Oh well

I finally broke down and bought the Garmin lifetime map updates. I am halfway through downloading them after an hour and a half. I think I'll go watch a ballgame.

I arrived on a Monday evening. I showed up at the lab Tuesday morning at 8 AM, and left at 11 PM on Tuesday. Wednesday was the same. Thursday, I showed up at 8 and left at 3PM to drive to the airport. I had about 15 minutes a day to keep up with the Internet, and that was it.

Work trips are usually like that for me, unfortunately. Sometimes I get to see people, and sometimes I don't--it depends on the project.

Update: I am right now sitting on the balcony of my hotel room in St. Thomas. We returned today from our week long charter, and fly back home tomorrow afternoon. Had a great time, and got some great pics (including some of a dolphin we saw while snorkling!). Dennis, we did make it to Jost Van Dyke, and had a drink at Foxy's. He's quite an interesting guy, we had an awesome time there, but sadly, he doesn't play guitar anymore.

I've been reflecting on my 63rd birthday, which is today, and have adopted a few new resolutions.

1. Don't buy another tuba that weighs more than 15 lbs.

2. Don't show up at tbone choir with only a Bach 30E if you don't know what part you are going to play. Treble clef range is a bitch on that mp at this age.

3. Don't accept any more freebie gigs as a favor unless you really want to play those charts and solcialize with those people.

4. Quit being so agreeable. At your age you are expected to be a bit caustic.

5. Sleep as long as you like and remember to allow more time for the bathroom in the morning.
