I doubt it, at least anecdotally. I have absolutely no idea where to go or who to ask if I wanted meth. I know absolutely nothing about Stillwater, Oklahoma. I also know nothing about making or using meth. But... I'll bet you that someone within a mile of you is either making it or using it.Todd S. Back in November, I spent a week in Memphis for business and stayed at the Peabody. Having lived near and frequented Detroit, I was not shocked to see homeless folks, etc. but I truly could not believe how brazen the panhandlers were. Every evening, I was approached at least three different times. As such, Memphis was quickly added to my list of places that I would never visit for pleasure. At least in Detroit, you're either completely ignored by the folks on the streets or you're legitimately mugged.

Anecdotally, maybe around the country. In one of my classes, though we learned about meth, and the Central Valley is the American capital for meth (and Portland, OR too maybe?). Ok, so maybe it would be 15 minutes, but still, it isn't something that I would be surprised to find.

Right, it isn't confined to one area by any means. I just remember hearing on the Dateline special about the Meth Epidemic that the highest percentage of meth arrests and lab busts were in the Central Valley and Portland.
It is spreading around the country though, and that's not a good thing.

I just heard a funny(?) quote on King of the Hill...

if you live in a rural area, you can get meth straight from the manufacturer....find where the 'chronically unemployed' hang out and go ask them.Todd S. Re: Joe Moved Out Just In Time!
Here in Cagayan de Oro, there is a tract home real estate company that is using some "colorful" California city names as names for housing developments... Let me introduce to you some of them:
-Bakersfield
-Fresno
-Turlock
-Stockton
-Atwater
-Delano (which they pronounce incorrrectly... they say it like Franklin Delano Roosevelt... the town is duh-LAY-no)
-Merced
-Los Baños
It all sounds so romantic!

Yep. Joe got out while the gettin' was good. They always said Memphis was just a place to go to get ripped off by a dead hillbilly! In today's Evansville Courier:

Re: Joe Moved Out Just In Time!
Well Bloke, at least you you don't live in Nashville. Gangland is on the history channel right now. They are talking about the Hispanic gang, Brown Pride, who call Nashville home. It's not very safe around here either. Blairsville is 45 min from me and if you've watched the news the past 9 days you know about the girl that was abducted. It seems a lot more real when you know the person. I knew her personally. Long story short, I knew her for a while before I harrassed her and my cousin until one of them got the nerve to ask each other out. She was a vendor rep for the Home Depot where I work. Before that, she worked for the Home Depot that we have in Blairsville. If you haven't seen the news coverage, google Kristi Cornwell. Thats the second female abduction in a years time. Also, the night Kristi went missing a woman was murder. All I can say is, WHAT THE HELL?
