Tiger Direct, Dell (which I prefer), CDW...There's more, I just can't think of all of them right now.

I second tiger direct, they have 2 other sister companies, global computers and CompUSA I believe. They all three have the same products, same prices. The catch is that each one sees to operate and ship out of a different state, so you need to play around to see which one DOESN'T ship out of your state so you don't get charged taxes.
I bought my $500 laptop from Tiger Direct. If I ordered it from Global it would have been about $40 more expensive because they ship out of NYS.

Don't automatically discount the big box stores. The Dell I'm typing on now was bought from Best Buy. I went on the Dell site, picked out a computer, then walked out of Best Buy with the same one for $150 less than the Dell website. I did buy all my previoous ones on line though. I would highly recomend Dell. This is my 5th one. I did have a nasty run in with service 3 or 4 years ago, but once Dell got a handle on the service end of the business it's been a good experience. I don't own any Dell stock or have any personal interest in Dell.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Consumer Reports had an interesting review of Laptops about 2 months ago.

Same here. I picked up a kick *** laptop (Dell Studio 17) this Spring from Best Buy for $700. It was a lot less than the online version.tbn.al wrote:Don't automatically discount the big box stores.
