ITEA Update

Post by David Zerkel »

Dear Tubenetters!

Just thought I’d make the first of many periodical posts about what’s going on in ITEA. We’re trying to make the organization work better for its members—hopefully you will like the direction we are going. If at any time, you have a thought or concern about the organization, I would welcome an e-mail or phone call from you!

Our first order of business is to improve our presence on the web. The members of the board all agree that we have been a little behind the curve in recognizing that the web is the primary manner in which people gather information. As such, we are committed to several projects for the website that we hope you will find useful and appealing. Here are some projects that are in progress at this writing:

• A page dedicated to the orchestral tubists in the US. When complete, there will be a bio, a brief interview and perhaps a bit more information about all of the players who choose to participate. If this is successful, we’d love to expand it to orchestral players from overseas as well. Should be a pretty cool resource.
• A page called “Power Lessons from the Pros”. These will be unedited video segments from prominent players and teachers in the field that deal with pedagogical and performance topics.
• Working on a page that will list all models of tubas and euphoniums that are available for sale in the marketplace, hopefully with links to product websites.
• A “Legends” section, which will have information about the greats in the field who have led the way. This might include pretty thorough biographical annotations for those that have passed, and interviews with those who are still with us.
• A page that will have audio links to all of the high school All-State audition material for each state in the US.

There are more ideas floating… like I said, these are in progress and will likely take a bit of time, but I wanted you to know where we are heading! If you have any ideas that seem intriguing for inclusion on the website, please feel free to share them. The more folks we have generating ideas for content, the better the site will be for all of us!

Best regards,

Sounds like the website budget just got increased. Someone's going to be busy!

There's definitely a lot of cool stuff happening these days with I.T.E.A. Looking forward to the next ITEC in Tucson too! :tuba:

If TUBA is interested I could contribute a dedicated forum here much like TubeNet Sponsors just for TUBA to post announcements. I would limit who has posting rights to it based on whomever you guys at TUBA want to post to it. Probably mostly board members and your web guys. You could use it as a means to help drive traffic over to the TUBA website with updates on new articles, blog entries, interviews, whatever.

This offer is only for TUBA though.

ps. replace TUBA with ITEA above if ya want. I'm old school. :)
