Mr. Torchinsky's Memorial Gathering

This past Sunday, 9/13/09, many friends, colleagues and former students of Mr. Abe Torchinsky gathered at the Double Tree Hotel in Plymouth Meeting, PA to memorialize and celebrate the life, contributions and accomplishments of this great performer, teacher and most of all, human being. I was privileged that my life was touched, though only briefly, by Mr. Torchinsky. I will cherish my short time of studying tuba with this legend for the rest of my life.

Among those present, in addition to friends and members of Mr. Torchinsky's family were Warren Deck, Paul Kzywicki, Carole Jantsch, Morris Kainuma and Ron Bishop. It was a large, congenial gathering, the kind, I believe, that Mr. Torchinsky would have wanted.

Rest in peace, Maestro.
