My golf game

Post by Tubaryan12 »

Since May, my golf game has been in a complete and utter nose dive. Lately, I started removing clubs from my bag. I am going to do this until I either lose zero balls in a round, or shoot sub 50 for nine (by the way, I'm down to 8 of a max. of 14). I was having a pretty good day until this happened:

Today while playing, a dog come out from one of the back yards that line the course. I was pitching back into the fairway from under a tree (my usual spot) when the dog ran out onto the fairway, picked up my ball, looked at me with my ball in it's mouth, and ran back into it's backyard. Maybe the gods are trying to tell me to give this game up.

Should I?

Someone, anyone, please tell me something funnier than this has happened to you on the golf course.

Misery, does indeed, love company. :D

I was playing golf one day at Southern Manner Golf course in Boynton Beach, FL when an alligator sunning itself near a lake ate my golf ball. This was several years ago and not sure that course still exists. When I was telling the story at the 19th hole (everyone's favorite hole), the bar-keep said the greens-keeper feeds some of the alligators with marshmallows. No wonder that gator ate my ball.

I think that dog was trained by its owner so he wouldn't have to buy golf balls as often.

This summer my wife hit her second shot on the fairway on a par 5. It was a low shot and hit a bird that was rooting around for bugs in the middle of the fairway.

The bird did not die immediately and was flopping around, obviously mortally wounded and in quite a bit of pain. This hole happened to be the farthest from the club house and there was no one around to help in any way (not that they could have done much), so I did what I had to and finished the bird off with my gap wedge (as humanely as such a thing can be done).

While this story isn't funny, I trust that it fills the "misery" requirement.

I've had some very interesting stuff happen on the course...
I have seriously injured and possibly killed a goose, not purposely, it just happened to land right in the path of a trapped 3 iron out of the rough, and was hit full bore with the ball in its evil demonic neck. Million to one shot.
I have barely missed striking a Hall of Fame NFL Offensive Lineman on a tee shot, hey he said I couldn't get it there...
My game has been in the toilet for awhile but I keep going, 2 weekends ago was U-G-L-Y. Shot 37 on the front side, which i was happy with...and 47 on the back.
