Oh my God....
OK, I had to look this up on Wikipedia. My sphincter is now clenched so tightly it will be a week until I poo!

I do not understand this fascination with self-mutilation.
I was wondering when someone would finally Google that! heh heh. No... I don't have one. I cringe just thinking about it!

I personally would be too worried about irritated / injured nerves and the likes, which might affect playing abilities.
I´d be curious why one would do this to oneself, even if playing a wind instrument weren´t involved.
As I take it there should be reasons to wearing this type of adornment. And these reasons should be powerful enough to overcome any social requirements that might affect my success in both life and profession. I can accept people´s choice to not pursue certain careers as a consequence to what they do (or have done) to their bodies.
There´s one thing I can´t understand, though:
Along with the expanding industry of tattoo and piercing studios, there is an increasing business of firms, that make money dealing with people that have made up their minds, trying to get rid of their tattoos, brandings or whatever.
IF I´ve been brave and determined to wear this kind of thing at one time of my life, I might just as well stick with that, accept it as part of my personality and love or respect myseself for it.

As a hydraulic engineer and tubist all I can say is that I could NEVER be talked into having a lip piercing, because of air leakage through the hole.
I don´t see why a tongue piercing, well applied and well healed, should harm Your playing abilities, as long as it´s not too close to Your teeth, though. (RATTLE!!).

For a while there I was not sure if you were refering to the "Prince Albert" or tongue piercing...

I can barely articulate how disturbing it is to even know what a "Prince Albert" is.

Why not ask the resident expert, Dr. Ben Pierce?

He does it for a living.

Tonguing, I mean.

How about a PA picture? That should be good for a considerable banning.

For the rest of it...ICK. What young women find attractive must have changed a LOT. I still like cleanliness, manners, and a great sense of humor.

Besides, tounge piercings have no sexuality.

In order to clear up any confusion my post migh have caused, I do not feel tounge piercings are 'stupid': I feel they are gay. Rumor has it that receiving fellatio from an individual with a pierced tounge is more pleasurable. So, when I see a male with a pierced tounge, I think it looks "gay". Not "stupid". Not that there's anything wrong with being homosexual.

I hope this post gets me banned because I feel this board needs much less "stupid" in it.

I feel as if this could be one of the more offensive posts I've read on TubeNet. HOWEVER it is right on is supporting your own opinion and gives an excellent expression to why you used a particular word. In all honesty, I found it quite entertaining. :P

THOUGH, you may want to learn how to spell tongue. (A rare moment as a member of the spelling police.....)

Me also! Having something piecing ones tongue would be self-torcher and to me also looks repulsive. For a Prince Albert, I also had to Google the meaning and it gave me the shudders

The tongue is a muscle, not cartilage. If you want to continue to be TUBAguy9, just don't do it. Period
Get something else pierced, get a tattoo, whatever.
Just don't get your tongue pierced.
Seriously.

worst comes to worst, I take it out and never put it back in...
usually they try to place it far enough back that it's not a big problem for chipping teeth, but it does happen...
