Zero feedback and referred to as a "student instrument"... anyone else smell that?

Well, the ebay username is corny enough to be from a tuba player...

I would never bid on tuba from seller with zero feedback, unless it was local and I could go and physically inspect.
This advert smells fishy to me!

Just for the sake of curiousity... I've asked the seller for a few more pictures, a little history, and the serial number of the horn. Could be a legit listing. I'll let you know.

To me, the eBay listing did not smell "fishy" as much as it did inexperienced.
The seller would be well served to put up more photos, and maybe to try to sell a few small items to get some feedback first before selling a large item.
Still, with zero feedback, I wouldn't bid without first communicating off-line with the seller.

I tried a new MW-37 and really liked it. I've never tried an old MW-37, so it might be much better. But for a great-shape new MW-37, this is a decent deal. They must be close to $10k new...? I didn't see it on the TubaDome site...
...but I did see that a new MW2155 is $2k MORE than a Thor?
