Flying Southwest with 2

Post by jspeek »

I'm going to be flying Southwest Airlines for winter break on the 22nd. I am trying to fly with one checked bag and both C and F tubas. Earlier this year I flew to Philly with my C tuba and checked it curbside for no fee. My question is: How much will the extra tuba cost me?

Typing "Southwest Baggage Policy" into my Google toolbar provided this link as the top contender:

http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/baggage.html" target="_blank

The internet is powerful; learn how to use it.

Not trying to be a smart a$$, but why would you want to travel with BOTH horns?
(unless you happen to have a gig waiting for you, that requires 2 horns)

I note that SW does *not* appear to have a size/weight exception for musical instruments. I know from experience that Delta *does* have a separate category for musical instruments; knowing about this can save many dollars.

You fly with both when you are going to be away for 2 months.

Allow me to suggest that in this case you fly alone and SHIP the two tubas as freight.

Hopefully you'll let everyone know how this works for you. Here's a link to my experience with Northwest in July 2009.
