It there one out there?
I'm borrowing a friend's PT50 with some nicks in the rim. The PT50 plays decently, and was wondering if there was a mpc out there that was like the PT50 except with a helleberg rim..?
Are there any of the stainless steel mpc's (that have screw rims) that might fall under this catagory?

My MF3H is quite similar in size and shape to the PT-50, but with a flatter, sharper rim. Not stainless, but I do have a few of these with lexan rims that Dave Houser cut for me. If you really want stainless, I believe the Loud (tm) rims of 33mm diameter should fit. Heavy mouthpieces not your cup of tea? I've got a slimmer version available now, too!

I used the PT-50 trough close to 10 years for my BBb’s and my large Eb’s. Only the small Eb and eventually the comp F were overloaded by the PT-50. With age I became dissatisfied with the response on the round rim of the PT-50. I researched the market for flat rims on a 33mm funnel cup.
I went for the Mike Finn 3H. I have discussed this with Mike, so I am not going behind his back: the MF 3H made my thick muscular lips loose the low range on my BBb basses. They couldn’t find enough space to work. Mike and I agreed on this conclusion: If two mouthpieces have the same inner rim diameter, then the one with the sharp inner edge will be sensed narrower than the one with a round and edgeless rim.
I haven’t regretted buying the MF 3H though. It works very well with my large Eb basses by Besson and Conn.
Later on I got Paul Sidey’s Classic Helleberg in brass for my BBb basses. The range and response is good, only I would have wanted it being as heavy as the MF 3H.
If a PT-50 is turned down to have as flat and sharply edged rim as a Helleberg, then one should be aware, that not only may it be sensed narrower than the original. The cup volume will be sensed as having been diminished.
