Mike,

Your link to my web page leaves out the second "e" in "Denney".

Here's the correct link:

I am still left handed. Please continue with your lives. Thank you.
I am fast becoming left handed. I think I broke my right hand near one of the knuckles a couple weeks ago, and it is getting increasingly harder to move, not to mention the swelling has never gone down. Still can play the piano and tuba, although it is sometimes excruciating.
Sounds like a jammed knuckle. Read the two linked articles, Marty.

http://www.ehow.com/about_4588727_jammed-fingers.html

http://www.wisegeek.com/how-do-i-treat- ... finger.htm

Good luck. I have jammed knuckles about five times in my life and each time was very unpleasant for me. The first time I was seven and caught a fly ball with my bare right hand. I had no glove and wanted to play and a severely jammed finger was the result. It took five months to heal since I never told my mom about it. Rather, I kept pulling on the finger to "un-jam" the joint since I did not understand the injury. So I kept aggravating the wound. But hey, I was only seven years old. Since then I have learned how to take care of such a problem and these have always gotten better in less than a month's time. One injury was pretty minor and was back to normal in about two weeks. Good luck.
Finally had the opportunity to have it looked at - had yesterday off due to my wife's colonoscopy (squeaky clean.)
Hairline fracture going down my hand, wasn't the knuckle. Huge cast now; last two fingers immobilized and goes up to near elbow. Can use thumb and first two fingers some.

Playing "Poet and Peasant" tonight - will probably reach over and around with left hand to catch some or all of the valves.
Fortunately the part is not too technical, and the Schiller needs minimal slide pulling - will just play D in the staff 4th (sometimes do anyway.)

Did it. It worked. Left hand for 5,1,2, sometimes 3. Right hand for 3,4.

And to think---some folks feel proud of themselves if they learn to play 2 different keyed tubas! Way to go, with that fingering chart. Congratulations. 8)

Before you give me too much credit, you should see the part. Even the faster sections are mostly the same 1 or 2 pitches per measure, just repeated.

Evidence is mounting that would disagree with that assessment.

Waiting for an update for the authorities.

Off to Winnipeg for the 1st annual Band Jam Reunion of the International Peace Garden Adult Band Camp at a local Legion Post for a day and half of playing, socializing and down right funniery. I'll post Monday on the result after the Fog clears.

Things like talking on the cell phone, BS'ing on a CB radio, reaching for a cup of coffee. And yes, I too have suffered the ill effects of simple distractions that could have led to a really bad day for me. The point of this post? Just one request. Please be careful when you drive. Don't fall subject to the simple distractions.

Just found out I need to replace the upper ball joints on my '70 CDV (Yes, I still drive it, no it's not looking any better).

$100 each just for the parts :x
I'll do the work, but then another $40-50 for a front end alignment.

$250 I really don't have to spend right now.

Need to replace the Flex-Pipe on the exhaust on my 1994 Camry. I found a part on eBay for about $170 (after shipping), showed my mechanic, and he said to get it, since it's about $100 cheaper than he could get it for. Installation will run about $150. I'm looking forward to not needed to turn the radio up real high so I can hear it over the engine.

I think this one is too far gone for that trick. It looked like it was about to come apart. I've never seen one this worn.
Since I have another vehicle I can use, I'll watch ebay for a while and see if I can find one cheap.

Worst think is I just changed the upper control arm bushings a few thousand miles back. I knew the joints needed replaced but there weren't that bad. This one took a quick turn for the worse.

Looks simple enough. Can you not change it your self? At least save the $150 for installation.

I'd bee looking to fix the damaged part only instead of that whole assembly. Pull it out and wrap galvanized steel around the hole with stainless hose clamps at the ends.

If it's the flex section that's bad, you can replace just that using a flexible pipe.

On a Deville?

P.S., but I would carefully measure the length of the links so that you can screw the new tie rod ends into the adjusting sleeves to the same length. Measure as carefully as possible, to the nearest 1/100 of an inch if possible. If you do that, drive it. If it doesn't pull or act squirrelly, put the alignment off.

You are just 50 miles or so from the coast aren't you? I thought it rained 24/7/12 there. My cousin lives on the coast of Washington and one year she said it rained 310 days at her house. Too wet for me. In fact Georgia has been too wet for me for the last couple of months. Raining again today.
