Most definitely an early Bell model, possibly the one given to Sam by The Man himself. I love the dark, solid sound of those horns in capable hands. Not bad for something that is barely considered a 4/4 by today's standards!
Sam is definitely one of the reasons I keep going back to CC in quintet.
Dave O and Marty H were probably two of my favorite quintet horn players.
