New work by Tony Plog for Tuba Quartet

Post by Mike Forbes »

Greetings all,

Tony Plog has penned us a fantastic new piece and Sotto Voce Tuba Quartet will premiere that very work TODAY on Wisconsin Public Radio LIVE! Tune in via the internet at:

http://www.wpr.org" target="_blank" target="_blank

and click the "listen Live" on the classical music side at 12:30 PM Central time to hear the Plog. The work is 2nd on our program.

It's in Plog's contemporary style, but in our opinion very listenable and extremely enjoyable to play--especially the fifth and final movement. The piece is about 12 minutes long, and we're playing it on 2 euphoniums and 2 F tubas.

I hope you can tune in and hear the piece. It will be available from Bryan Dought and BVD/Cimarron Press soon (Jan. 1?)

Regards,
Mike Forbes

For anyone interested in the sheet music, it is now up on the Cimarron Music Press site:

There is also a sample page of a couple of the movements!

It is a quite a fun and challenging new work and we at Cimarron were honored to co-commission this piece with Soto Voce. Please look for more tuba and euphonium related commissions from us in the future.

More info on Tony can be found here:

The link contains a list of recently published music and music he is currently working on. He is quite a busy man!!

Wishing Sotto Voce well and happy listening to all,
