Just in case anyone is interested, here's a video of my first orchestral performance with the new/old Yamaha/King Eb:

The horn really projects well and has a great sound! (I actually didn't realize just how well it was projecting, but the conductor and composer kept encouraging it!)

Yamaha makes the little CC (621? like Dallenbach -plays or played?) and a little F on the same bell wrap, I often wondered why they never made a valve front Eb on that same wrap.

There's also a BBb.

Yep, sorry, should have mentioned that I'm tucked in behind them. . . you can catch flashes of the bell and that's about it. . .

Right and they used to make a nifty little student model BBb with the valves around front, the YBB103. Now they make the 105 with upright valves. I have often though about getting one of those old cheap 103s and cutting it to a Eb. I would want to add two valves to it however so it would be better to get one of the BBbs or CCs and cutting it down. But they would be more expensive.

The Eb is the "missing member of the family". Weril apparently used to make a 3/4 4-valve Eb (J682, if I'm not mistaken ... saw one on eBay a year or two ago) -- don't know why they discontinued it.

I can't remember who in the Chicago area had this horn, but there was a guy who had an E flat slide for his YFB 621. It was an AWESOME instrument. I tried one on a YFB 822 once - not so good. Very woofy. But the smaller horn seemed to work great.

well it might not boggle the mind but being an Eb player already, i always thought it would be a neat horn.
