Tee-hee-hee

Post by tbn.al »

Golly-gee! I never had a thread locked before. I feel so special! Do I get a prize?

BTW the cops caught the kids who spray painted the satanic signs on the cars in the church parking lot, 3 pre-teens. I am really more pissed off at the damaged bumper person from the Cristmas Eve service because it had to be someone who was in the same service as my client. You can write the kids off to misguided whatever, they are just kids, but if you are attending a service you really should own up to doing $1200 damage to a fellow attendees car.

Dylan, I've said my piece so feel free to hijack this thread and get it locked as well.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

I figured the last thread would get locked. But it was fun while it lasted!

It is always good that those who commit the offense are brought to face the consequences.

The word "hell" in the King James Bible is translated from four words.

• Sheol (in the Hebrew) or Hades (in the Greek) means "pit" or "grave."

Every one of us will be visiting the grave. So from a certain perspective, all humans "go to hell" when they die.

• Gehenna means "the valley of Hinnom." Symbolically, this refers to fiery judgment.

Gehenna is the place outside the city of Jerusalem where in New Testament times, all of the trash was burned up and destroyed. This "hell" in the Bible represents the second death in Revelation 20:14 that Christ spoke of in Matthew 5:22. It is an eternal death of total destruction, where those who do not repent at the second resurrection are burned up and destroyed. The Bible in no way implies that anyone is "alive" in hell, or suffering eternal punishment. The idea that hell is a place of eternal fiery punishment for the"unsaved" dead comes straight from Dante's fictitious, The Divine Comedy.

• Tartarus which signifies the confining of fallen angels.

Here is the explanation given in An Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words by W. E. Vine: "The verb tartaroo, translated ‘cast down to hell’ in 2 Peter 2:4, signifies to consign to Tartarus, which is neither Sheol nor hades nor hell, but the place where those angels whose special sin is referred to in that passage are confined ‘to be reserved unto judgment’; the region is described as ‘pits of darkness.’ RV"

HWA had churches? I thought he was just a radio and TV guy... Learn something every day...

The reincarnation, 'No paradise for you until you get it right' theology of the Hindus and Buddhists makes more sense to me...

That person (if it is who I think you mean) died of stomach cancer in 1995, and is likely awaiting the second resurrection. It is not for human beings to judge.

It was under that leadership that the Worldwide Church of God strayed from the doctrines of Jesus Christ and the early Apostles, adopting Christmas, the Trinity, and Sunday observance. Many faithful sheep left the Church at that time, and continue to follow the Bible, as it is written.

I was not involved with any church at that time, and cannot comment too much about it. I was born and raised as a secular Jew by atheist (hippy) parents. It was only after more than a few major and minor miracles in my life that I became a Christian.

There are no perfect human beings, and everyone makes mistakes; every day. Those who follow God faithfully know this, and we know our human leaders have flaws. We follow Jesus Christ as High Priest, and only follow shepherds that are led by Him.

1 Peter 2:18
Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh. 19 For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
22 “ Who committed no sin,
Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;
23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Has anybody read "Not in His Image," by John Lamb Lash? It is not an easy read, but I am finding it fascinating. I had to get halfway through it before I started to get what it was saying.
