This isn't rocket science, Nick. Get the horn part, change the clef, add 3 flats and use BBb fingerings.
Gnagey CC, VMI Neptune 4098 CC, Mirafone 184-5U CC and 56 Bb, Besson 983 EEb and euphonium, King marching baritone, Alexander 163 BBb, Conn 71H/112H bass trombone, Olds Recording tenor trombone.

Free to download. Enter it in Finale or something and let it do the magic for you. You're a Sinfonian, for crying out loud...figure it out!

Or, on F tuba, use trumpet fingerings. Easy. That opens a whole new world of transcription for you, too, without the pain of rewriting or posting on whacko boards where people will harass you.

That's a nice find. Anyone who wants a copy of the top audition excerpts to have handy ought to download this one. That's a better looking Strauss than I've seen around. It's not hand-written like the others that I've seen. And since I can't find the Finale file I made years ago, this is perfect!

Thanks for the file!

The edition that was on the NY Phil audition about 5 years ago was by Ted L. Cox; tubist in the Oklahoma City Phil, and my mentor while at OU. Ted's not on here very often, but does have an account...you can look him up here & send pm.

Strauss 1st Horn Concerto also appears in James Graham's Concert Music for Tuba, along with a number of other transcriptions.(All 4 Mozart Horn Concertos, Schumann Adagio & Allegro, Mozart Concert Rondo, etc.)

That's great and some nice excerpts too such as Pines, Sensemaya and American in Paris! :)
