I've just noticed a "new" icon for "Exif Launcher 2" has got itself planted on the bottom bar on my computer screen (running XP home premium). I have never heard of this. Anybody know what it is?
I'm suspicious of it being some bit of spy ware which has eluded Trend Micro internet security (updated daily) and the microsoft so called security - also updated regularly. A full scan has not done anything about it. It only first appeared yesterday and can be "exited" - at least the icon goes. It comes up when booting up.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Exif Launcher 2 ???????
It's a program created by Fujifilm Inc. EXIF is a file extension for storing metadata associated with digital photos (thumbnails, info about the camera that took the picture, etc.)
http://filetonic.com/blog/2009/10/12/wh ... -launcher/" target="_blank" target="_blankNow, about that mysterious Exif Launcher icon. This is an icon associated with Fuji digital cameras and their “Fine Pix Viewer” software. When you connect your camera to your computer, the Exif Launcher enables the Fine Pix Viewer software to launch automatically. This makes it easy to download your photos from your camera.
If the icon bothers you, you have several options. First, you can right-click a blank area of the System Tray and choose “Customize Notification Icons” and then set the Exif Launcher icon to remain “hidden when inactive.” Another option is to go into the Fine Pix Viewer software and find the Settings > Exif Launcher Settings section. From there, click “Do not run at restart.” If adjusting the settings doesn’t do the trick (it should), you can always remove Exif Launcher from automatic startup by removing its icon from your system’s Startup folder.
Keep in mind that if you remove Exif Launcher from automatic startup, you will need to manually launch the Fine Pix Viewer manually when you want to connect your camera.

Re: Exif Launcher 2 ???????
Thanks for that! It all makes sense now and fits right as I have the Fuji software installed to work with the camera.
Thanks for your help - I feel better now.
