Re: Import Duty Question

Depends on where it's imported from: the general duty rate for brass wind instruments is 2.9%, unless its imported from a country which has a special tariff treaty with the US, in which case, ordinarily there is no duty, or the instrument is imported directly or indirectly from Cuba or North Korea, in which case the duty is 40%. See US International Trade Commission [url=http://www.usitc.gov/publications/docs/ ... 901c92.pdf] HARMONIZED TARIFF SCHEDULE, Ch. 92.

Any help would be great.
I bought a used tuba from Taiwan, and it was shipped FedEx. Fedex handled all of the details with US customs, and sent me a bill for the relatively small amount that they paid to US Customs on my behalf.
