Bloke
Since they have several CD on their website with some tracks available for download which CD is the one you received that you are praising in your message? I am sure all of them are good ones.

yes, I may or may not agree, but Mr Chisham would object, as our commentary would come awfully close to violating the " NO POLITICS " mandate ....Jam ( watching bloke stir the pot again ) Sav
But , to Bloke's message , wow !!! what a band !!! what magnificent players under great direction....I had the pleasure and privilage to sit in on a Coast Guard band rehearsal, then sat around after to listen to their jazz ensemble- I dont know who these guys were in New London, Ct but they were laying it down !!! Well done to our military !!

I would argue that no President has ever deserved their namesake ensemble...

Does anyone know if such recordings fall into the public domain because they were performed by officers/employees of the federal government as part of their official duties?

Yes, they fall in the public domain, for that very reason. The Jackson wrote:Does anyone know if such recordings fall into the public domain because they were performed by officers/employees of the federal government as part of their official duties?

With interest I have gone to these band sites and listened to downloadable tracks:
Air force DC
Navy DC
Army DC
Coast Guard
Long, long ago I also could access the Marine DC band site, but now it refuses to load. I have discussed it with an ex-Marine horn player living on the US west coast. And he also has troubles accessing the Marine DC site.
I guess the same security standards apply for all US military sites, so I wonder why the Marine DC site is so hard to access.

Yes. But then again, this is Tubenet. So much to say about bullshit, so little to say about the wonderful US Marine Band...
I've had the good fortune of growing up close to DC, hearing many of the Marine Band's concerts since high school. The best band in the country, in my opinion.

It appears to me that if you're a sponsor here you are treated differently than the non-sponsor (and nonpaying) members. But thats how it works in America, where "Cash is KING"LANShark wrote: All I'm saying is that Sean has made his feelings clear on the subject of political posts. I just feel they should be honored. Maybe you feel that as a sponsor of this site, you have the right to ignore them. As a non-paying member, I suppose I should exercise my right to ignore what I want to ignore as well.

Oh yeah--The President's Own is an amazing ensemble of world class musicians and have had the pleasure watching them perform in concerts over the years.

That doesn't wash. I recall a period a couple of years ago when Sean thought I was a party to some of the schoolkid bull**** and blocked my posts for a while.TUBAD83 wrote:.... Besides.... for the value, perhaps EVERYONE on this forum should kick in a couple of bucks a year... maybe the price of one of those expensive coffees... for the privilege of sharing the knowledge that's available here.
