the last waltz orchestra

Post by clintontuba2 »

i recently saw the bands "last waltz" concert on t.v., thats "the band" as in robbie robertson etc. anyway, i noticed the orchestra for the last waltz concert had a tubist, does anyone know who that is, he was black and was playing a 4 piston upright tuba, prob. a besson imperial, or possibly an early yamaha but i'm not sure, any info would be great.

Howard Johnson, he has 2 albums out with his all tuba band called "Gravity" Also on a Taj Mahal record with 4 tuba players, called "The real Thing. The horn is probably a mahillion, Howard has a career as an arranger, tuba and low reed player in NYC. Check out the links below to Howard's incredible music.
