Change your Passwords!

Post by Tubaryan12 »

Along with changing your clocks and smoke detector batteries when daylight savings time comes around, we should also change our passwords if you don't do so already. I had recently been changing all of them for banking and most social networks but I forgot to change my PayPal account. Today, it was hacked. Luckily for me, I caught it quickly, so that the charge never hit my bank, but let my mistake be a lesson for you. Change your passwords offen, use characters as well as capital letters and number, and never use part of your name, username or email address in the password. That PayPal account was the only one that I have where I didn't follow all of these rules.

What would be a good one to change it to?
You could always use:

"MickeyMinniePlutoHueyLouieDeweyDonaldGoofySacramento"

(that's eight characters and one capital!)

The only account I've had hacked was Amazon, and I *always* use passwords that more than meet the criteria for "strong." Sometimes what happens is not that your password is lousy but that someone hacks the site where your password would be used, and gets access that way. I can't fathom that someone was able to figure out my password.

However it IS good advice to change them periodically.

I tried changing my password once. I was too hard. The only one I can remember is 1234.
