VIRUS ALERT!

Post by pjv »

Ya, that one scared me too.

I received an the following e-mail. I'm not sure whether or not I should follow the link because THIS might be a virus!
(As a mac user I haven't had any problems with viruses, but maybe that days come)

Does anyone know if this is legit or not?

Thanks, Patrick

I similarly received a very strange and concerning PM in TubaNews purportedly from the Administrator who I see has now been banned!!! Do not click the link - it will no doubt try to download a virus. Just delete the message - it is a malicious hoax!

As network administrator for a large multinational organization, I get these kinds of emails from well-meaning people every day. DO NOT FORWARD THEM. Virtually every email warning of a virus is a hoax or spam email. The worst thing you can to is "send it to everyone you know, and tell them to send it to everyone they know" and continue to congest email servers and spread rumors.

Some of these virus emails are forwarded literally millions of times and wind up costing more than many viruses themselves.

I saw this post at Tubanews - it was obviously a fake message trying to make you download something bad. The broken English trying to sound like an official communication is a dead giveaway.

And yes, EVERY virus warning I've recieved over the last thirteen years has been a hoax - DO NOT foward this stuff.

Regards

Gerard

Delete without reading. Do NOT send the received confirmation. If it does happen to open up, send a separate email to the administrator with the information. Do not reply. Do not forward. Do not pass Go.
