New Horn mania

I have a Miraphone 186, which I bought new at Dillon's last year. I still have the new horn worries, such as fingerprints, dings, etc. I usually hold the horn with a small white cloth in my right hand, then wipe the horn down after using it. I am obsessive about it. My question to all is; would it be just too much to wear white cotton gloves or flesh colored latex gloves at all times while using the horn?

Take it on a tour. Put it under a bus, inside an equipment truck, on the back seat of a van, on a airplane. Repeat. THEN, after a few tours see how it looks

Of course, it will probably play better too.

I agree with tuba4sissies...i always relax and feel better about a horn after the 1st dent...just get it over with (make it a small one though)

I hate new cars and new horns.They force you to live in terror of that first new dent or scratch.You buy insurance on them and if damage occurs you must spend hours or days sheparding them thrugh the maze set up by the "repair givers".I am so happy to drive junk and play a 60 year old horn because a new dent in either one of them usually adds character and doesen't affect usability.

I love the extra peanuts I get when I buy a seat for my horn. And it makes a comfortable pillow and "crying baby" sound barrier.

One of the reasons why I have never bought a brand new instrument, and have bought a brand-new vehicle only once. It is SO much less painful when the first dent and scratch are already there.
