The bell and body look just like a 19 inch Besson.

Re: Selmer Eb tuba
Looks a heck of a lot like a Conn Giant Eb to me...

I would say that a Giant has a different bell flare (unless it is the angle of the photo) and the top and bottom bows on a Giant are "chunkier"

Agreed... While I was pretty sure Selmer and Conn never talked to one another until the last decade, they have some striking similarities.MartyNeilan wrote:I would say that a Giant has a different bell flare (unless it is the angle of the photo) and the top and bottom bows on a Giant are "chunkier"

Re: Selmer Eb tuba
It does bear a very close resemblance to my Pan American Eb Giant Bass, which I understand to be actually Conn, ca. 1926. Dimensions look right - the dark background and directional lighting make it look a little more slender than it is.
The big difference is that it was evidently designed for high pitch - the inside loop is noticeably smaller, the valves are a little shorter - and the main tuning slide is much longer to make up for it, so long it has its own cross brace.
Other than that, it has an extra brace between the bell and the lower end of the 2nd? branch, but at this distance the other braces are the same, ferrules look the same, bow cap, bell flare joint same.
Nice enough tuba. For the price ... hey, if anyone likes the looks of this, I tell you what - let me know today, and I'll sell you mine for the $300 I paid for it. I need to know right away, though, so I can go after Liberty Mo's Martin.
