Good thing they canceled...I-40 E is closed at mm 59 due to flooding, and they're making boat rescues ON I-40 at mm 148 near Centerville.

My parents are en route from OKC to Knoxville. I called them last night and they were eating dinner in Russelville, AR. At the time I was looking at the weather web site and there was a tornado warning about 5 miles east of them. So by stopping for dinner, they avoided the storm that killed those folks in Scotland, AR. Later, I saw the warnings go up for Little Rock, and I knew they were near there, so I called and got them off of the road in North Little Rock. As they pulled into the hotel, the tornado sirens were sounding. Needless to say that last night was a pretty scary situation with Little Rock getting one tornado warning after another for hours. It turns out that the one that did all of the damage on the east side of town was crossing I-40 right about the time they would have been at that point if they hadn't pulled off the highway.

Then this morning I saw the flooding, and called them again. It took them almost 2 hours to get from Forrest City, AR (~25 mi W. of Memphis) to the Whitten Rd. exit (#14) in E. Memphis. They pulled into the MPD station there on Appling Farms Pkwy and asked the police about the situation. They are now booking a room for the night back at exit #12. Not a good travel weekend.

Not looking forward to this crap making it to Knoxville this afternoon...

I am convinced that 90% of the problems with rhythm, tone, intonation, articulation, technique, and overall prowess on the horn are related to air issues.

Bad times in Nashville...

some of the pictures from the slideshows are from pretty close to Marty's house. Hope you're still high & dry, man!

First time I've ever seen a building floating down the interstate:

Parents are heading out of Memphis now. Will hit Nashville in ~3 hrs. It's raining like crazy Nashville again now, so hopefully they'll make it through. This has been the trip from hell for them.

Marty, any place they need to stay away from? Besides I-24? I already advised them to go around on 440 and not take 40 straight through.

Hopefully there will be a few clear days to help dry out and assess what to do next, as the forecast seems to indicate.

Get a goat and never have to worry about mowing again. Plus, you'll get some milk. More free time and free food.

bloke "yeah, iiipopes, I said 'crack'." :|
Joe, have a beer on me. Check your email for a gift certificate to purchase a six-pack to soothe the palate while you wait for the ground to firm up before you have to put up the hay. Let me know when you get it so I can crack one open with you, albeit long distance. Mine will be Bass Ale, as in my avatar. Let me know what you picked.

What Steve said only more than one. Get a small herd. You will need at least 5 to mow your pasture. Make sure there is a billy in the mix and you will soon have little kids, which you can eat! I would personally drive to Memphus if invited to an old fashioned "goat roast". After all the missus has chickens and bees. What's an old goat to do?
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Goat roast? I'm in! I've been the "goat" so many time in life it would be a pleasure to share the feeling with some other poor goat. I'll bring beer.
