Re: Update Update
I successfully buzzed rehearsal last night, and got to take the tuba out for a short oompah today. Slow and steady. No motorcycle for another week.

UPDATE:
Tuba apperance on My 8th's "Jeopardy"! Category was "How Low Can You Go?" and answer was "Heard here, it's the lowest of the orchestra's brass section". They then proceeded to play a sound clip of some middle range arpeggio and scale.

Call!
your mother
your wife
your friends' wives with children
random women you know with children
your aunts
your daughters with children
Seriously, it is amazing what a "Happy Mother's Day" gesture can do for people's moods. Even worse, it can be detrimental to your health to forget to say it.

A Happy Mother's Day to the mothers whose children became tuba players, this is not a love's labor lost.

Re: Update Update
In two weeks my wife is retiring from teaching after 34 years in an elementary school classroom. Something tells me that my hopes of idyllic afternoon liasons are unfounded. Actually it's not really "something" as much as it is "someone" telling me that. I was just thinking.......nothing else to do........Am I off base here? Have I really lost touch with reality? A friend who has just been through this process tells me these thoughts will leave my mind. He said she will think up so much useless crap for me to do that I will be too tired to do anything else. Is this a planned strategy?

My shop is so messy, I can't even find a pair of pliers.
Everything Joe has said about his B&S (pre-PT) F tuba is true.
This is the ultimate rotor F tuba. Not too big or too small. Low C is right there once you know where to find it. Excellent pitch, great top and bottom end. This is what an F tuba SHOULD be. Too bad the manufacturers are off chasing other ideals instead of trying to build horns like this (the JBL F a possible exception.)
The Thor was nice, all the good of my 2155r and none of the bad; but still not my cup of tea. The stock 2165 was nice but a little too open (no shock there, although a #1 Blokepiece helps.) Once Joe is done with his extensive mods, it should be killer.
(He is also a much nicer guy than he wants you to think, but don't let me spoil his secret.)

You know, after thousands of dollars spent on tuition and years spent at medical school, you'd think they would be in hospitals or something.SRanney wrote:I'll be netting sturgeon from the Missouri River for the next two days 20 miles downstream from Loma, MT.

Don't know whether it's planned or instinctive, but it does seem to be a "fact of wife" ...tbn.al wrote:In two weeks my wife is retiring from teaching after 34 years in an elementary school classroom. Why would you search for them again if you already have them?SRanney wrote:six females and 10 males were collected for my re-search this summer.
