Seems like you two know more about this horn than I do, and I'm the fool who just bought it. Aside from lack of money, is there any reason I should have run away as fast as my legs would carry me?

Wow. Sorry to hear about the tornado. That's pretty serious stuff. I'd advise weighting your house down with lots of large brass objects so it won't blow away!
I do plan to restore it in my home shop, but for fun rather than profit. I'm set up for trombones rather than tubas, but I'm confident I can do whatever patching and fabrication is necessary. And yes, it's the same horn. He dropped the price to $90 and the shipping to $81 (Greyhound) so it's not a huge investment. I also like a horn that's described without any stupidity like "valves are seized, but a little oil will take care of it" or the like. I thought he was pretty honest in his description. I'm expecting it to be brittle and rotten in places with bad clockwork springs, but with some potential. Of course I've been wrong before. Come to think of it, my worst buy ever was a similar horn--a Lignatone four-valve oval-body euph that had to be euthanized.
Aside from the missing valve bumper stop, the water key, the main body brace and the neckpipe, what parts did you see that were missing? I thought it looked relatively complete.
Also, a question about that main body brace. Are those solid brass, or are they flattened tubes? Looks like it could be a pretty massive chunk of brass.
