I know just about any shop will order you anything if they have the chance to make a sale. Rivard Bros. here in Arlington is an authorized Getzen dealer and they keep a good stock of horns. But, if there is something you wish to try they might be able to order it for you. Also, call Brook Mays and see what they have in their showroom before you head over there. Hope any of this information helps.

Brook Mays still sorta has the "tubastore" at their Dallas (635 & I can't remember the cross street).

Last time I was in there they had a King 2341 or two, several new Miraphone 184's in CC in both 4 and 5 valves, some Meinl Weston 45SLPs, a VMI Culbertson Piston, some Schmidts (Brook Mays VMI stencil), and a Conn 5xJ CC.

For euphs they had some Yamahas and some Bessons and maybe a Meinl Weston. Don't expect to see a Besson Prestige or a Willson 2900.

Most of what they have is left over (with the exception of the 184s) from the early days of tubastore when Charlie Krause kept tons of horns on hand to try. These days I'd describe it as "picked over." Their prices are list prices, too...they will charge you the list price if you don't know any better...beware!!! Anyone want to buy a Culbertson Piston CC for almost $13,000? Unless something has changed, they are trying to get out of the tuba business (they have told me this)...trying to get rid of all of those F. Schmidt BBbs and sell some high end horns that have sat around for 4-5 years.

They have almost no accessories for tuba either. Service isn't real good and because they don't have anyone that knows tubas around these days. The place isn't organized and they often misplace factory accessories/cases/etc.

There really aren't any good tuba/euph shops around Dallas. There are some great repair shops, but they won't have tubas/euphs around...

The cross street is Preston. They are in the southwest corner.

They don't any longer have any tuba-knowledgeable sales people, as far as I know. Don't expect the kind of quality advice you would get from one of the real tuba stores. But if there is a particular instrument you want to try, and they happen to have it, they'll let you play it and form your own conclusions. The practice room they provide, however, is rather small, and they discourage customers from trying out tubas out in the main part of the store. Go when they are not busy, and call ahead.

If you find something you want to buy, do your homework first. They will deal, but you have to know what you are willing to pay.
