Sounds like a lot, but if she's sick, exhausted, whatever else, it might make sense. Also, sometimes getting out and being active when you're tired is better than the sleep.
Especially since the sun rises so early and sets so late (what, sunrise at 5:30 am and sunset at 8:30 pm now?), I find I have a hard time getting more than 5 or 6 hours of sleep per night.
How much sleep is too much?

I would. I slept very much the same way your wife does. It turned out to be hypothyroidism.ben wrote:Heh... its a typical weekend day for her... I don't quite understand, maybe I should have her thyroid levels checked

Lyme disease? A close friend of mine had it, and was exhausted all the time.

I agree. I would also note that the 8 hrs you always hear about needing is the midpoint of what's normal. some people need more, some less. Most americans get less.bloke wrote:We aren't medical doctors...We're tuba players.

Re: How much sleep is too much?
When I catch up on sleep, I've broken 12 hours many times...today I woke up around 1, and took a nap from 2-5ish.
My guess is that it's all relative...but again, i'm not a doctor or anything

Re: How much sleep is too much?
When I have hard weeks or don't sleep well during the week, sometimes I'll sleep a lot on the weekends as well.
Here's the deal, however, regardless of what the medical condition is or is not, to sleep too much at the wrong time can throw a person's body out of circadian rhythm, making it even harder to get going the next day. So I have to make sure I limit my naps and, if anything, go to bed an hour earlier, but try to wake up at the same time.
If that doesn't work, then as bloke said, we are tuba players, not physicians, so if it persists, to the doc, to the doc, to the doc, doc, doc.
